I am a university professor in Land Degradation & Development at Wageningen University, the Netherlands. The Land Degradation & Development Group is dealing with land and water management interventions in farming systems (at both field and watershed scale) with the aim of preventing, reducing or recovering losses of soil, water and plant nutrients. These losses occur in all climate zones and in nearly all farming systems. The LDD Group is partner in the Soil Science Centre, a cooperative of three chair groups from Wageningen University and four reserch teams from Alterra.

I consider the professional playing field of the Land Degradation & Development Group to be a triangle between fundamental aspects, applied science and governance. In the group there is at least one scientific expert for each of these three elements. Please check the playing field and the organogram of the group.
